The Mississippi Rebels, also known as Ole Miss, is a college football team form the University of Mississippi. This team was the very first football team to form in the great state of Mississippi, and has dedicated fans spread out all across the United States. This team is so famous that a TV show called the Orange County Choppers, which is based on a motorcycle chop shop, build a Mississippi Rebels Ole Miss motorcycle for the colleges sports program. A movie was made about one of their players too, a movie which won Sandra Bullock some big awards, called "The Blind Side". There is also a book by Michael Lewis called "The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game".



This team was actually formed in 1863 thanks to Dr. A.L. Bondurant who later became a dean. This team has led the nation in many firsts, including being the very first college football team to ever fly to a game. This history was made in the year 1937 when the team flew from Memphis, Tennessee to Philadelphia. Their very first football game ever to be seen on television was in 1948 when they played against Memphis!

The Ole Miss team colors are Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue. The uniforms also have white and gray on them. The Mississippi Rebels have been called the Team Of The Century, and have participated in 33 bowl games. They won 21 of those and only lost 12! There are ten players from this team that have ended up in the College Football Hall Of Fame. Two of the teams jersey numbers have been officially retired, number 18 for Archie Manning and number 38 for Chunky Mullins. As a salute to number 18 Archie Manning, the campus speed limit is set at 18 miles per hour!

The teams logo is the "Colonel Reb". It is basically an older gentlemen in a cowboy hat and an older saloon style western suit with a can and mustache. Ole Miss fans are excited to see what this great team will do in the upcoming college football seasons. This is, and always has been a great team that all the other college teams fear!
